"The Korean people created unique culture by assimilating foreign culture accepted in neighboring countries in the basis of indigenous culture. Korean culture has developed over thousand of years into a unique tradition. Specially traditional handicrafts, Hyukpil. Letter painting is a genre of folklore painting. Hyukpil is writing a letter with symbolical form to meaning of the letter. Every letter has its own meaning. So it has the form of the drawing in the letters to make understanding the hidden meaning of the letters. They written them with suitable shape with strokes of controlled hand in a blink of an eye. Confucian teachings like filial piety, loyalty, decorum and personal wishes like prosperity, longevity, etc... were summed up in a letter word and written on a scroll to be mounted on a wall for decoration. Hyukpil contains many good symbols for long life, happiness, health, happy home, riches and power, peace, love etc... Hyukpil is to be good things to introduce Korean culture to the world. It enables foreigners to make out a mood of traditional folk arts in Korea.
