초록
한글은 현존하는 언어 중에 정확하게 언제, 누구에 의해서, 왜 만들어졌는지가 명확한 유일한 언어이다. 한글은 음절을 만들기 위해 가로, 세로 조합을 사용하기 때문에 영어와는 다른 독특한 그래픽적 에너지를 갖게 된다. 디자이너들에게 문자는 글자이기도 하지만 동시에 그림이기도 하기 때문에 그림과 글자의 특징을 모두 갖고 있는 디자인의 탄생에 있어서 타이포그래피는 독특한 디자인 장르라 할 수 있다. 본 논문에서 제시되는 'Typography How-To' 프로젝트는 충청대학 컴퓨터그래픽디자인과에서 진행되는 타이포그래피 기초과정으로서 한글을 새롭게 해석하고 조합함으로써 한글을 이용한 그래픽디자인의 새로운 변화를 보이고 있다. Hangul is the language of how and when was it created and why it had to be done. Hangul, the Korean alphabet has either way of horizontal and vertical combination to make a syllable so that it has unique characteristics and great typographic energy. For designers, type is one of the most useful materials to convey information to readers not only as a text but also an image. Hangul is more than the features of reading and writing for graphic designers. The ‘Typography How-To’ project was one of the typography lecture opened in Chungcheong College. The students of the Dept. of Computer Graphic Design were involved in this project and have presented some encouraging results in typographic design. Well organized group of types not only is effective in communicates an idea but also turns into a beautiful image.
